Eco House Cooking Competition
As part of an Eco and Catering committee collaboration on Friday, 10 January, students from Lower Sixth took part in a house cooking competition.
The event focussed on promoting healthier eating habits and a more sustainable way of living. When devising their dishes, students were challenged with only using meat-free, non-exotic ingredients - helping to raise awareness about the meat-free initiative at school.
The event also aimed to increase camaraderie through healthy competition, gave the students the chance to influence food served as part of meat-free day at school, and of course, gave them the chance to earn some house points.
Throughout the afternoon, the students worked within their teams to prepare, cook, and serve their dishes, ready for them to be judged in a taste test.
The judges included Head Master, Mr Barker, members of the Warwick School catering team, and some of the students' peers. The judges went around to each of the teams to ask questions about their dish, discuss why they chose it, and how they prepared and made their dish. The dishes were then scored out of 10 based on appearance, complexity, flavour, and suitability for school lunch.
After tallying up the scores, the winner was Greville house for their fantastic tofu curry.
