Senior School
Pupils are at the heart of everything we do. We exist to inspire and nurture them morally, spiritually, intellectually, physically and socially.
We want to build on their individual strengths and help them grow into well-rounded young men, confident but not arrogant, who can play a positive role in the world. The majority of Junior School pupils move on to the Senior School where they are joined by pupils from a wide variety of other local schools. We have students from over 200 primary and preparatory schools!
The key entry point to Senior School is 11+ (Year 7), but pupils can join at 12+, 13+ and 16+. The school offers scholarships and bursaries at various ages, and around one in four pupils receives financial assistance.
Starting at a new senior school is always a big step and every attempt is made to make that process as easy and enjoyable as possible both for boys and their parents. In June, at New Parents’ Morning, parents and their sons are invited to hear from the Head Master, the Head of Year 7 and other senior teachers about various aspects of school life even before pupils join in September. A Moving Up Day is also arranged in the Summer term for new Year 7 pupils. Many activities take place, including music, drama and
sports, as well as an induction into more practical matters such as registration, the school timetable and how to use the library.
For those joining in other year groups, arrangements are made to meet the Form Tutor and gather any relevant information before starting at school.
