Acclaimed actor Anton Lesser to narrate at Warwick Hall concert next month
With only two weeks to go until Orchestra of the Swan’s first concert of the season at Warwick Hall – Stories and Dreams on Thursday, 10 October – we also look forward to welcoming acclaimed actor Anton Lesser to the Foundation’s Warwick Campus.
Stories and Dreams features a combination of sublime symphonic pieces from the Swan’s orchestra, and poignant narration from Anton, who is the Swan’s Associate Artist for 2024-25.
Anton is well-known for his role as Thomas More in Wolf Hall, which earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Other credits include Qyburn in Game of Thrones, Harold Macmillan in The Crown, Endeavour, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Anton also has one of the country’s best-known voices, thanks to his extensive work with BBC Radio (including Falco) and audiobooks, including most of Dickens’ novels. His recording of Great Expectations won him a Talkie Award. Anton’s majestic Paradise Lost featured on the BBC’s recent epic series, Art That Made Us. Anton Lesser most recently shot Serge Ioan Celebidachi’s new feature film The Yellow Tie.
He can be seen in Better for BBC1 as the role of Vernon along with Andor for Disney portraying Major Partagaz, and in 1899 for Netflix.
An associate of the RSC, he is also a prolific stage actor, having appeared in various RSC productions including Romeo and Juliet, The Plantagenets, Cymbeline, and The Winter’s Tale. He most recently performed in The Two Popes at The Rose Theatre Kingston.
Anton has also recently appeared in the Swan’s Red Sky at Sunrise Laurie Lee in Words and Music which continues into the new season.
Stories and Dreams
The performance opens with Edvard Grieg’s radiant Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 and includes readings from Henrik Ibsen’s drama, whilst Rimsky-Korsakov’s dazzling symphonic suite Scheherazade is interspersed with text from Yasmine Seale’s beautiful translation of Tales from 1001 Nights.
