Evensong with Exeter College Choir
On Friday, 9 February, the Warwick School Chapel Choir performed evensong jointly with the choir of Exeter College Oxford, in the wonderful setting of their Victorian college chapel.
They performed Vaughan-Williams’ Antiphon and Stanford’s setting of the canticles in B flat. They then enjoyed an excellent restaurant meal in Oxford, where we were also joined by several OWs, currently studying at Oxford, while several others managed to attend the evensong.
They also enjoyed a tour of neighbouring Lincoln college in a gap between the showers, where the boys saw a chapel on a very different scale with beautiful 17th Century cedarwood panelling. They were shown round by two OWs of different generations – one in his first year there as a pupil, and another who is currently admissions officer for the college.
We would also like to thank Exeter College’s Chaplain and organ scholars for being so welcoming.
The chapel choir was also in action on the day after half term too, back in our own Chapel for our Candlemas service.
