Jeneba Kanneh-Mason to Perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto. 23 at Warwick Hall
Jeneba Kanneh-Mason will perform at the next Orchestra of the Swan concert – ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’ – on Thursday, 8 February 2024. Also featuring a side-by-side performance between Warwick Schools Foundation pupils and the professional Swan orchestra.
Jeneba is a hugely talented pianist, whose talent is illuminated by her list of accolades – a small part of which includes being a Keyboard Category Finalist in BBC Young Musician 2018; winner of the Murs du Son Prizeat the Lagny-Sur-Marne International Piano Competition in France 2014; and The Nottingham Young Musician 2013. She was also winner of the Iris Dyer Piano Prize at The Royal Academy of Music, Junior Academy, where she studied with Patsy Toh.
She is part of the Kanneh-Mason family – seven brothers and sisters ranging in age from 14 to 27 years old, all of whom have exceptional musical talent and play either violin, piano or cello. They have won many prizes and awards and appeared in numerous television shows; the five eldest performed at the BAFTA awards in 2018 and all seven appeared in the December 2019 Royal Variety Show.
Jeneba herself is also an avid recital performer – she has performed in venues such as the Zurich Tonhalle, London Wigmore Hall, Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields, as well as the Lenzburgiade, Rheingau, Cheltenham, Bradfield and Lamberhurst festivals.
Now, she is coming to our campus!
‘Pictures at an Exhibition’
Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures of an Exhibition’ inspires the next Swan concert. On the night, Jeneba will be performing Mozart’s iconic Piano Concerto. 23, while the Swan’s professional orchestra return to Warwick Hall for their second concert here of the season.
The concert also sees the brilliant Michael Collins return as conductor, just as he was at the previous concert, ‘Neoclassic’, on 12 October.
The concert will feature Arensky’s Variations on a Theme by Tchaikovsky, Op. 35a, Mozart’s Piano Concerto. 23, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite Op. 71a (4 movements), and Mussorgsky’s (arr. Pierre-Alain Monot) Pictures at an Exhibition.
We are also hugely excited that the Tchaikovsky piece will be a side-by-side performance between Warwick Schools Foundation music scholars and the professional Swan Orchestra. This is truly a unique opportunity for our pupils to showcase their musical talent and to gain invaluable experience, and we are sure that they will perform exceptionally.
We encourage all families to get a ticket for the concert – with Jeneba Kanneh-Mason, Michael Collins, the Swan Orchestra and Warwick Schools Foundation pupils, this is sure to be a wonderful showcase of musical talent and a performance you won’t want to miss.
The concert starts at 7.30pm, and tickets can be purchased from the Bridge House Theatre website.
