This is a three-day, non-residential course taking place in the Warwick School music department from Monday, 23 to Wednesday, 25 October. There are places for up to twenty-four students to form small jazz groups headed up by one of our professional music team, all experts in jazz and CRB checked, with tuition geared towards jazz-specific musicianship, including reading notation, playing by ear, interpreting a lead sheet and, most importantly, improvisation.

A variety of repertoire will be covered from Ballads to Be-Bop in practical sessions and seminars with the focus on performance. There will be an afternoon concert on the Wednesday to exhibit what has been studied during the course.

Each day will comprise two 30-minute theoretical sessions and three 75-minute practical sessions beginning at 09.30 and ending at 15.30. Please provide a packed lunch. The cost will be £195 all inclusive.

Wind, brass and string players as well as pianists, guitarists, bass players and drummers are all welcome to apply, though numbers are dependent on the personnel in each band. All ages are welcome but students should have achieved at least grade 2 on their instrument to benefit from the course.
