We are pleased to announce more diverse, exciting, and thought-provoking talks from a range of inspiring speakers. Pupils from all year groups are welcome to attend what is sure to be another fantastic (if not slightly shorter than usual, given exam timetables!) term of events.
All from 4.15pm - 5.30pm. Unless otherwise stated, events are unticketed and open to all of our Foundation community.

An Encounter with the UK’s Vanishing Democracy Sam Fowles is a barrister and author of Overruled: Confronting our Vanishing Democracy in 8 cases”. In Over-ruled, Sam argues that “We can no longer hold our leaders to account; the state has too much power; and the truth doesn’t matter at all. Those we voted into government have nothing but contempt for the democratic system that got them there”. Given the current debate over the future of UK civil liberties and the extent of executive power this is an Encounter not to miss! Sam will be signing copies of “Overruled” after the event. |

An On-line Encounter with the Quest for the Meaning of Life AC Grayling CBE MA DPhil (Oxon) FRSA FRSL is the Founder and Principal of New College of the Humanities and its Professor of Philosophy. He is the author of over thirty books of philosophy, biography, history of ideas, and essays. He has contributed to many leading newspapers in the UK, US and Australia, and to BBC radios 4, 3 and the World Service, for which he did the annual 'Exchanges at the Frontier' series and has often appeared on television. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, a Vice President of Humanists UK, Patron of the Defence Humanists, Honorary Associate of the Secular Society, and a Patron of Dignity in Dying. |
