Inclusivity Week at Warwick School
This term the LGBTQ+ pupil voice have worked hard to put together an engaging inclusivity week as well as making huge steps in establishing Warwick School as one of the most inclusive schools in the country.
To celebrate pride month, pride flags have been placed around the school sight, and the library has become a very welcoming space with a wide variety of LGBTQ+ literature on offer to pupils. We’ve also worked hard to create a badge system in which staff members who are trained and comfortable having conversations with pupils who are questioning wear pride flag badges.
This inclusivity week we have made a very informative whole school assembly which highlights the history of the LGBTQ+ community as well as highlighting their presence in society. Mrs Poole has also crafted a kahoot quiz filled with lots of information that will allow pupils to understand the community much better. We have also arranged with Mr Soper a special inclusivity week chapel service which effectively spreads our message of inclusivity.
I’d like to thank James in Year 9 and Daniel in Year 7 for their massive contributions to our work this week, I honestly couldn’t be more proud of these two boys who both embody what it means to be a Warwick School pupil. Furthermore, Mrs Poole and Ms Wilson have been amazing to work with, I can’t thank them enough for their contributions to this week.
Warwick School is now at the forefront of inclusivity, and we hope to continue this trend next academic year.
