Having been unbeaten so far this year we approached the match confidently. On a muggy June day we lost the toss and were sent out to field. The team bowled well, with all seven bowlers that were used putting in good spells.

The stand out bowler was, yet again, Bobby Hampson who bowled with good pace and control. He bowled out both opposition openers and King Edward’s School never really got going after this. Vincent Barnes opened at the other end, delivering a parsimonious spell that helped build up the pressure. The change bowlers of Aaryan Dassaur and Thomas Jennings bowled well without reward as King Edward’s School started to build their score. The moment of the day in the field was an outstanding run out by Alex Watson. Having turned the ball down towards fine leg, the batsman tried to run two, Alex Watson hurtled in off the boundary and executed the perfect pick up and throw to wicketkeeper Tim Drake who removed the bails. King Edward’s School got a few runs, but wickets continued to fall; two to Turan Ehsan and one each to Charlie Beard and Alex Watson. At the end of the King Edward’s School innings Warwick were chasing a very gettable 91.
Our innings opened with a beautiful cover drive first ball by Charlie Beard for a boundary, but Warwick’s top order was soon in tatters. With the pink ball swinging a lot the team found themselves 7-3 and in deep trouble. Taha Mohyuddin had to rebuild the innings with Turan Ehsan. After blocking out the opening bowlers Warwick found themselves behind the rate, being 27-3 after 10 overs. Taha Mohyuddin then opened his shoulders to mercilessly flog the change bowlers and Warwick won at a canter, finishing on 92 -3 after 16 overs. The partnership for the fourth wicket being worth 85 runs and Taha Mohyuddin unbeaten on 54*.
A great effort and win for the team who play well together and are ably led by the skipper Timothy Drake. Timothy Drake also had a fantastic day behind the stumps (again) where his hands and footwork were to a very high standard.
