February starts strong for rugby
We have had a busy couple of weeks in the Rugby club now the weather has improved.
We have had full blocks of matches against Sir Thomas Rich from Gloucester and Northampton School for boys. There have been some excellent performances across the club. Congratulations for the U13A team who defeated a strong Sir Thomas Rich team away from home in the mud! Also there was a clean sweep from the U14BCD and U15ABC, U16AB and 1XV – 3XV against Sir Thomas Rich.
The U12s took on the strongest opposition in the country Northampton and lost 20 points to 5 in an excellent match. This weekend our junior teams travelled to Aylesbury Rugby club to take on London based John Fisher School. This Is always a huge challenge at junior levels due to the physicality and size of the opposition. The U12A drew 3-3, U12B won 7-6 in a cracker, U13B won 6-5 and U13A lost 6-5 which is really encouraging for the future. As a school we are often looking for opposition for our BCD teams as other schools struggle to maintain the playing numbers which is a great feat and a huge thanks to all our wonderful coaches who support the teams.
The 1XV have maintained their unbeaten start with an excellent 24-17 win against Sir Thomas Rich away from home and a demolition of Northampton 43-5 last weekend. All the age group AB teams are looking forward to starting our 7-a side season next half-term.
Finally the whole school wishes Mr Maguire and the U15As the best of luck in the National Quarter Final on Thursday against QEGS Wakefield.
