Athletics Win Top Team at Solihull School Event
On Wednesday, 3 May the Athletics Team joined forces with Kings High and headed to Solihull School to take on the hosts and KES Birmingham in an excellent team event.
As a first outing of the season we saw some outstanding achievements with numerous boys gaining personal bests in their individual events.
Excellent performances from Louis in the 100m, Raul in the Javelin and Theo in the Shot meant the Year 8 team put in a strong performance overall to put the school in a good position to compete for the overall team prize.
But it was the Year 10 team that blew the opposition off the track (and field) winning eight of the 11 events on the night. Brilliant performances from Tolly in the 200m, Fin in the High Jump, Seun in the Long Jump, Ned in the Shot and Will in the Javelin put the team in a commanding position. Incredibly, Theo and Josh – competing as Year 9s in the Year 10 event – also won the Triple Jump and 800m respectively.
The evening was topped off with the Year 10 boys winning the 4 x 100m relay, with Ned coming from behind to take the win on the final leg. A fantastic end to the event.
Once the scores were added up Warwick took the award of top team on the night. Well done to all the boys who took part. A great start to the season…
