Excellence in the Olympic Pool
On Saturday, 19 November, our U15 and U18 swim teams travelled to London to take their place in the 64th English Schools Swimming Association, Secondary Schools' Team Championship Finals.
This annual event sees over 180 schools taking part in an initial qualification round, with the top 30 teams from each age group being subsequently invited to the finals which are held in the Olympic pool at the London Aquatic Centre.
Our two teams ranked well in both the freestyle and medley relay events and hopes were high that they would secure a top ten placing on the day and with it a lane in the Grand Final.
Our U18 team of Louis M (Captain), Jason H, Charlie M and Ruben S finished a creditable 15th overall in the Medley event and excelled themselves further in the Freestyle event, finishing in an excellent seventh place in a highly competitive field.
Not to be outdone, our U15 team of Ned S (Captain), Ziyi L, Charlie M, Zack H and Will P achieved a place in the Grand Final in both their events, finishing 6th in the Medley and 8th in the Freestyle, respectively.
The team spirit was excellent throughout the day. The boys left the venue rightly proud of their achievement of delivering the best collective results for the school in this event.
