Ryan Competes in the National Sprint Regatta
Just before our return to school this year, Ryan in Year 11 was busy competing in the two-day, National Sprint Regatta, held at the National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepoint, Nottingham.
Representing Banbury and District Canoe Club, Ryan competed in an impressive 6 events over the two days and raced in K1, K2, K2 mixed (pictured) and K4 events over 1000m, 500m and 200m. He made two "A" Finals, one "B" Final and one "C" Final helping Banbury to a very credible 10th place in the National standings out of over 40 competing teams.
In addition to this, on Sunday, 11 September, Ryan also returned to racing for the club in a marathon race, over 8 miles, at Pangbourne. He finished an impressive 7th place, helping Banbury to a joint 2nd place finish in the Pangbourne Hasler rankings. This is the final marathon race before he competes in the 2022 National Hasler Finals on the River Thames at Runnymede on 25 September, where he will race over 11.3km!
Good luck to Ryan on the 25th, in what sounds like a pretty tough challenge!
