Mr Bond's Week in Review - 9 February
The final week before half-term was another eventful one.
Last weekend, Fin Smith (Old Warwickian) made his first senior professional appearance for England when they played Italy in the Six Nations Championship. In Monday’s assembly, we talked about this amazing achievement. It also gave me the opportunity to talk to the boys about my enjoyment of the game from watching Cornwall vs Japan in 1986 – a rather unique first live sporting experience – through to supporting Bath Rugby and the rugby players I looked up to as a young boy. However, we also discussed what are known as the core values of rugby: teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline, and sportsmanship, and how these values are not just about how you play a sport, but also values which hold true in all aspects of life.
We finished by watching a short video clip that epitomizes these values in action. The video can be found here.
I am sure that rugby’s core values have also been on display in Snowdonia, where Year 6 have been spending the week on their residential. The daily report from the residential can be found below.
Congratulations to the five Year 5 boys (four of which are pictured below) who joined with their peers from the Prep School and Kingsley Prep to present to the Foundation Governors. They fed back their views on school life, including what they enjoyed and felt the schools did well, but also what they would like to see in the future.
I wish you all a restful half term.
John Bond.
