Message from Mr Hymer: 23 April 2021
After such pleasant weather over Easter, it was good to see boys and staff return refreshed and ready for the term ahead.
There is a genuine feeling of optimism that the key events we look forward to each summer will take place. Breaks and lunch times are now out on the fields with all the space the boys could wish for. I hope the boys come home happy today after such a fun and rewarding week.
As you will note from the key dates listed in the column opposite, the majority of events (including fixtures) will take place after half-term. We are hopeful that this will allow us to invite parents to share these important moments. Final details will be sent out later in line with Government guidance at the time.
Before half-term, our Year 4 and Year 6 boys will have the exclusive use of the Bridge House Theatre to work on a play in a week. Our Year 4 boys will be rehearsing and performing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the week commencing Monday 10 May with our Year 6 boys taking over the following week. Whilst the Year 4 production will have to be recorded for distribution, there is a possibility that we may be allowed to invite audiences for the Year 6 production of 'As You Like It'.
The government's road map indicates that audiences could potentially return from 17 May. Similarly, we are hopeful that parents will be able to join us on 23 June for our Summer Concert. This is likely to take the form of year group concerts throughout the day to allow parents the opportunity to attend and remain socially distanced. Further details will follow once we are able to plan with greater certainty.
We have a busy programme of cricket and tennis matches scheduled after half-term. We are hopeful that (weather permitting) all matches will go ahead as planned. There is much to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
