Junior School Aquathlon
On Saturday 10th October Warwick Junior School hosted its first ever Aquathlon.
An Aquathlon is multi-sport race that involves a swim followed by a run. The morning was a great success, with 100 pupils taking part from all four year groups. The Year 3 race consisted of a 50m swim and a 400m run, the Year 4s did a 100m swim and a 800m run, the Year 5s did 150m in the pool and a 1.1km run and the Year 6s swam 200m and then ran 1.5km. For the majority of the boys this was there first experience of a multi-sport race and despite some obvious nerves showed fantastic perseverance and no shortage of skill to complete the challenge in some impressive times. The Year 6 prefects had chosen two charities for the event to support ‘Guide Dogs For the Blind’ and ‘Kissing it Better’. I am delighted to announce that £1,399 was raised by the boys, which will be split evenly amongst the two charities.
Special mention must be given to Mr McWhirter and all the other staff who made the event possible.
