Message from Mr Hymer: 30 September 2022
There is no doubt that we are now steaming full speed ahead in one of the busiest parts of the term. Fixtures are coming thick and fast allowing many of the boys a chance to represent the school.
Saturday saw the third running of the Junior School Aquathlon with Junior boys and Prep School girls taking part. The main aim of the day is to encourage as many boys and girls to take part and push themselves to complete the course. It also provides an opportunity for the more regular swimmers / runners to test themselves and compare times against previous years. We were again indebted to Mr Gray (parent of Tom and Imogen) for helping with the technology to record times in the pool, transition and track areas. Regardless of times achieved, it is a great community event. It was heartwarming to see so many boys cheering on members of their year group as they finished their races.
Last week also saw the first of this year's residentials taking place. Our Year 4 boys enjoyed three days at Blackwell Court sampling a range of different activities. For many with Covid restrictions restricting opportunity, this was their first time away from home. The boys thoroughly enjoyed their visit and came home with many tales of derring-do. As always, our staff deserve a special thank you for accompanying the trip, spending time away from home. Our Year 6 boys will be the next group to enjoy time away together when they head on the rugby tour to the West Country next weekend.
Tomorrow we will be hosting our first Open Morning of the year for families seeking a September 2023 place for their son. Our Prefects and House Captains will be taking visitors around school. The boys always do a remarkable job of giving a boy's perspective on Junior School life. We are grateful to them for giving up their time on Saturday morning.
