The Year 5s led the service, reading extracts from The Bible and war poetry, with the four house captains also helping out. Part of the service saw the boys sing the hymn, with Mr Soper doing the sermon, and at the end of the service, money was collected to donate to the Royal British Legion.

The morning signified a period of reflection and gave the boys the opportunity to remember those who have given their lives in service to their country.

The reflective nature of the Remembrance Service acted to highlight the importance of courage and selflessness, which was also a theme in the assembly last week. During assembly, the boys also discussed the work of medical staff such as Florence Wolfe of the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry, who volunteered to work on the hospital wards during Covid, and listened to the experience of Trevor Edwards - whose family migrated to Britain from the West Indies in the 1960s, served in the RAF and saw action in the Middle East and Bosnia.

Certainly, acts such as these wholly encompass courage and selflessness – values which are synonymous with the Warwick community.
