As can be seen above, this has been a special week for boys receiving their Junior School Diploma. Two boys, Xander and Samuel were given their platinum diplomas - a remarkable achievement and reward for their full commitment to school life. Boys achieving their gold and platinum awards will be re-presented with their awards at Speech Day.
This has also been a remarkable week for the number of cricket matches played. It is often more difficult to arrange block fixtures for cricket, but (weather permitting) nearly all the boys in the school will have played a fixture this week. The junior school staff have been hugely helped by the senior school's games staff as many of the senior boys have been involved in public exams.
Looking ahead to next half term, we will be eagerly keeping an eye on the weather forecast during the first week back as our Year 5 boys are off on their bushcraft camp. Regardless of the weather, I am sure the boys will have a great time on what will be their first residential in the Junior School.
In the second week after half term we will be hosting our House Music competition (Tuesday, 14 June 11.00am). This is always a great event as boys are encouraged to put themselves forward or form groups to compete in a House competition. Lower School and Upper School boys are involved in what is always a most competitive event. The onus is on the boys to decide the piece they would like to play and find time to rehearse. I hear there are a few House bands forming for the event. The House music captains are in charge of introducing their teams. We very much hope that parents of our participants will be able to join us.
I am sure boys and staff are all looking forward to the week's holiday and the jubilee celebrations. I look forward to the boys' return to start what is always the busiest half term of the year.
